Subperiosteal Implants

SUBPERIOSTEAL IMPLANTS

Patient-Specific Maxillary and Mandibular Subperiosteal Implants

In contrast to regular (endosteal) dental implants that are placed into the jawbone, subperiosteal implants are placed underneath the gums, above the jawbone. These implants are fixated on different parts of the jawbone using tiny screws, and will be gradually integrated into the surrounding bones and on its frame through osteointegration.

In case of the patients that can’t use the conventional endosteal implants due to severe atrophic mandible or other reasons, this type of implants is prescribed by the doctor.

Despite the fact that subperiosteal implants have been introduced many decades ago, these types of implants were only being used for specific cases due to their complex manufacturing.

In the past decade, the usage of these implants has become very common since manufacturing implants made of Ti6Al4V-ELI (Grade 23 Titanium) has become possible using 3D printers.

Bonash Medical subperiosteal implants are designed and manufactured specifically for each patient based on their own mandible.

Placement of this implant on the bone doesn’t require reforming or reshaping, which will facilitate and speed-up the operation procedure and placement of the implants.

In addition, the conditions of the abutments’ positioning including their position, height, geometry, and angle are designed according to the prosthodontist’s requirements, and therefore yields more precise and sustainable final result.
